Louise Craig bio

Louise is an Invercargill based multimedia artist who has experimented with a variety of mediums including oil and acrylic painting, paint making, monoprinting, life drawing, felting scarves and artwork using the wet and needle felting techniques, dying silk, making upcycled and new jewellery and handmade rose petal beads. All these artforms have produced items that are either for visual enjoyment or are wearable. Louise believes that by being interested and willing to experiment with new mediums and techniques that this keeps our artistic spark alive and can open a doorway to a new artistic passion that gives you joy, challenges and a sense of accomplishment. Louise has studied Visual Communications, Fine Arts in Dunedin and colour therapy. She has been involved in solo and group exhibitions, has previously tutored workshops and operates Hanan Gallery at 130 Dee Street, Invercargill.

Printmaking: Ink Monoprinting by Drawing transfer Workshop , $100, 3 hrs,  Saturday 29 August

This technique involves rolling ink onto a smooth surface, placing paper on top and drawing onto the paper. The pressure transfers the wet ink onto the back of the paper revealing a unique print. You can draw your images from a clothed model, the flowers in vases or props supplied.

You will be shown how to ink up your plate and then you can experiment with different pencils to discover the variety of lines you can make. Experiment drawing onto different papers over the ink to see what effects they give. All materials and course notes supplied. No previous experience required.
