Otago Art Society - Youth Art Awards 2016

2 – 25 September 2016 1st Floor Dunedin Railway Station

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION:

  • No set theme.
  • Works may be 2 or 3 dimensional.
  • Age group sections 5-7, 8-10, 11-13
  • Entries welcome from individual children or school groups.

PRIZES

  • 4 prizes will be awarded in each section.
  • There will be a prize for best school.
  • All children will receive a Certificate of Participation

RECEIVING OF ENTRIES:

Please bring your artwork to the Otago Art Society, 1st floor, Dunedin Railway Station on either Friday 26 August from 3 – 6 pm, or Saturday 27 August from 10am – 4pm.

OPENING NIGHT FUN:

Friday 2 September at 5:30pm

Wear a decorated mask – the more imagination the better! A prize will be awarded for the best mask.

Art classes for children

MaFi Arts Children’s Workshop –  runs classes for children all year round. Located in the King Edward Technical College building, Upper Stuart Street.

The Cave Art Studio – runs art classes for children in Mosgiel

The Dunedin Art School  – Otago Polytechnic – (Facebook) – runs a competition for senior secondary students in August

‘Pike the Peacock’, by Mac Sheppard, age 6. Third Prize 5 – 7 years.

‘Swimming Free’, Lilli Irving, Aged 8 – The Cave Art Studio. Merit 8-10 years.

Freda Kawharu-Tapsell, Te Kura Kaupapa Maori, Otepoti School. Aged 9 Third Prize 8-10 years.

Caroline Quirey, East Taieri School, aged 10 years. First Prize 8 – 10 years.

Claudia Tate, Tainui Intermediate School, age 12. First Prize 11 – 13 years
